VIP JEOUN Transport Limited, operators of VIP fleet of buses, has said it will sue transport operators who use the VIP trade mark without permission.

The practice, according to the financial Director of VIP JEOUN Transport Services, Prof. Lukemond Owuso Ansah, was illegal and constituted abuse of the VIP brand under commercial transport.

In a press release copied to Today, Prof. Owusu Ansah said the company in June this year cautioned users of the company’s trademark ( Red background with VIP written in white colors) to refrain from using it in their transport business.

“The company, today, regrets that despite the strong warning and contrary to the copyright law, some illegal users of the VIP Jeoun’s trademark continue to use it,” it said

The statement stressed that this time round, the company intends to drag the culprits to court if they disregarded their call to stop using their brand.

“We would once again like to reiterate our warning to all transport companies or operators who are still using the VIP JEOUN TRANSPORT COMPANY LIMITED trademarks to desist from such lawlessness or face the wrath of the law as we are bent on protecting the company’s hard-earned image,” he stressed.

This came to light last week when two buses branded with VIP symbols got involved in a fatal accident killing four passengers on the spot, leaving many injured at Kyekyewere on the Nsawam-Suhum road.

When that information came out, according to the financial director, the company held a press conference in Kumasi to inform its patrons that the said two VIP buses involved in the accident were not theirs.

“We wish to state clearly that no VIP bus belonging to VIP Jeoun Transport Company has been involved in an accident this morning. It is an identity theft bus belonging to the Sunyani GPRTU. No VIP bus has a BA registration number,” it stated.

Meanwhile, Today has learnt that the company is assisting the police in investigations to apprehend the fake VIP companies as well as compel them to remove the VIP tag from their buses.

VIP Jeoun Transport Company has promised to help the accident victims with their medical bills.

Consequently, the company cautioned members of the general public who patronise VIP buses to always board them at their various terminals, saying vehicles belonging to the company do not pick passengers on the road apart from their designated terminals.
