The management of Valley View University (VVU) and the Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI) on Tuesday signed an agreement cementing their partnership in academic exchange, management consultancy and training programmes for staff and students.

MDPI seeks to promote increased productivity and capacity building in both public and private organisations in the country to enable them contribute effectively to the socio-economic growth of the country.

Highlighting on the content of the agreement, Professor Dr Daniel Bour, Vice Chancellor, VVU, cited the exchange of publications and research reports, development of joint scientific and technological research projects as some of the issues tabled out in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

“Others include exchange of teaching and research personnel, dialogue and sharing of experiences that would enhance intercultural diversities and any other activity of mutual interest regarding academic or scientific research”.

He said both parties would appoint a coordinator who would be responsible for the implementation of the Corporate Agreement.

He said the initial term of the agreement would be for a period of one year commencing from the date on which both parties signed the agreement and “the agreement shall automatically be renewed on an annual basis for a maximum of a four year term unless written notification of intent to terminate the agreement is received at least sixty days prior to the renewal date”.

Dr Shaibu Gariba, Director-General of MDPI, lauded both institutions for the initiative as it would go a long way to promote the public-private collaboration sought after by government.

He said the human resource development of every institution was very vital for the institution concerned and the nation as a whole.
