Vodafone Group stated that its Ghanaian unit recorded a 32.5% growth in service revenues for the six months to end-September 2011. Vodafone doesn’t detail the exact revenues figures for Ghana. The growth refers to the combined fixed and mobile service revenues. According to Informa Telecoms and Media, Vodafone shared 20% of the 20 million subs Ghana mobile market in 3Q11 and recorded GHS174 million (US$108 million) in mobile service revenues during the six months to September 2011. In comparison market leader MTN saw its six month service revenues increase by 11% to US$397 million during the same period and Tigo’s revenues grew 9% to US$115 million. As at 3Q11, Vodafone Ghana ran 284,000 fixed lines and 3.8 million mobile subscriptions.
