Vodafone donate towards Odwira and Ngmayem festivals

Accra, Oct. 18, GNA - Vodafone Ghana on Monday presented a total of GH¢6,000.00 cheque and mobile phone products, to facilitate the annual celebration of Odwira and Ngmayem festivals.

The items comprised mobile phones, credit and other Vodafone products to the chiefs and people of Aburi Anafo and the Manya Krobo Traditional areas in the Eastern Region.

The Odwira festival is scheduled for October 21- October while Ngmayem festival spans October 26- October 31. The donation forms part of Vodafone's support to develop traditional institutions and practices aimed at strengthening their bond with the corporate world.

Making the donation of GH¢2,000.00 and some items to the Chief and people of Aburi Anafo, Mr Michael Tuffuor- Ampem, Trade Marketing Co-ordinator of Vodafone Ghana said it was the company's commitment as a Ghanaian entity to reach out to its customers and help shape their customs, practices and way of life.

He listed the items presented as cash, schnapps, top-up credit, modems, Vodafone T-shirts, clocks, baseball caps and Vodafone hand fans. "We are also sponsoring a street jam and Miss Anafo Beauty Pageant as well as a grand durbar, which will be the crowning moment for all." Nana Otoobuor Djan Kwasi II, Aburihene, who is also the Akwapim Anafohene, said other activities for the festival include clean-up exercise, a state durbar, an Odwira state dance, inter-denominational church service and a football match.

At Odumasi Krobo, Mr Gladstone Tetteh, Secretary of the Planning Committee of the Ngmayem festival expressed appreciation for the cheque for GH¢4, 000.00 and the various items donated to the traditional council. He said the items would enhance the relationship between the people and Vodafone.
