Vodafone, through its enterprise business wing, is headlining this year’s SME Ghana Awards. It is the third consecutive time the telecommunications company is associating its brand with the most important milestone in the SME sector in Ghana.
In the current world where everything is being driven by technology towards a converging commonality, SMEs can no longer stay separate from the rest of the eco-system. In Ghana, SMEs still make up a huge majority of all companies registered in Ghana – which continues to make them more relevant than ever before. Despite the thriving nature of the sector, majority are slowly coming to terms with the dynamism that technology brings.
The theme for this year’s awards, “Sustaining Ghana's SMEs in a globally competitive market” is geared towards getting SMEs to start focusing their attention on becoming globally competitive using technology.
Commenting on the awards, Angela Mensah-Poku, Director of the Enterprise Business Unit at Vodafone Ghana said:
“We are excited to be part of this awards once again. We, at Vodafone, are looking towards a future where our companies can be part of the global markets in a way that results in sustainable profits to the shareholder and customers. Our vision has always been to build the capacity of SMEs and develop them into large corporates whilst ultimately building the next batch of multinationals in Ghana.”
The SME Ghana Awards is organised annually by Imagine8, in partnership with Vodafone, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, World Association of SMEs and the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC).
This year’s event will take place in September.
