Vodafone Ghana has rewarded winners of the Appstar competition, after the final contest was held in Accra.
The Vodafone App Star contest is a mobile app competition to uncover creative and innovative app developers in Ghana and to offer them an opportunity to compete internationally with other developers.
The annual contest, which is categorised into start-up and established developers, is part of efforts by Vodafone to bolster the app developer community in Ghana.
Mr Gayheart Mensah, Head of External Affairs at Vodafone Ghana said the App contest is Vodafone's approach to pioneering mobile innovation in the technology and app developer industry in Ghana.
He said the App contest has exposed the misconception that the various Apps are developed by foreigners alone.
He said the contest had shown that Ghanaians are capable of developing such applications, adding that Vodafone would continue to support the contest.
At the end of the completion, the developers of the Vicinity Apps won the start-up contest while Africa Legends won the established developers category.
Both winners were awarded with prizes worth GH? 10, 000 and an all-expense paid trip to India to participate in the global App Star competition on January 15, 2015.
