Accra, May 4, GNA - Mr George Gyamfi-Osew, Deputy Director of the Department of National Lotteries (DNL) in charge of Marketing, stated on Tuesday that the Department was committed to helping to develop the nation through games of chance.

To this end, he urged stakeholders in the games to come on board and cooperate with the DNL, whose doors, he said, were open to all and sundry, to achieve this laudable goal.

Mr Gyamfi-Osew made these remarks when he addressed members of the Lotto Agents and Writers Union (LAWU) at their monthly general meeting at the Brennan Hall in Accra.

He briefed members on the New Perm Book, a system which he intimated, would soon become operational and urged them to patronise it, so as to generate more revenue for DNL towards national development. Mr Gyamfi-Osew said the new system would initially be operated on a pilot basis in the Greater-Accra Region, after which it would be extended to the other regions.

He urged members to patronise games already in the system, including the "Mid-Week", and "Win the TV Jackpot" bonanza, in order to earn enough commission to improve their standards of living. On Social Security and national Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Pension and National Health Insurance Schemes, the Deputy Director urged the Executives of LAWU to rally their members together so that DNL could guide them to register with those two schemes.

Mr Gyamfi-Osew used the occasion to remind the public that winning tickets of the Department's games were valid for 14 days, and advised those who stake lotto to ensure that they presented all winning tickets by that deadline to avoid unnecessary embarrassment.

Mr Ransford Boama Boakye, Chairman of LAWU, advised members to be regular and punctual at meetings to be abreast with the union's development programmes.

Mr Emmanuel Nti-Addai, Secretary of the Union, advised members to endeavour to do genuine business with the DNL to ensure maximum returns.
