Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, has said the government is collaborating with foreign investors in other sub-Saharan African countries to invest in the tourism sector in Ghana.
In addition to this, he said the government is creating the enabling environment for the investment to thrive.
Speaking at the World Tourism Forum in Accra on Tuesday October 10, 2017 Dr Bawumia said: “The government is providing a conducive environment for tourism development, easing business pressure on tourism with the reintroduction of appropriate incentives for growth.
“The strategy is to build on a solid base and expand tourism across the country into new market segments.”
He added: “Under the auspices of the ministry, the Ghana Tourism Authority is currently spearheading a Destination Single Window project. The project is targeted at promoting excellence in the tourism industry by raising the standards of hospitality agencies and improving their services.
“The project also aims at improving on data collection in the tourism sector, as the basis of evidence based planning and decision making.
“We are also focused on improving infrastructural within the sector through investment and pursing mutually beneficial partnerships with investors in other nations within sub-Sahara Africa to expand the market.”
