According to him, the proposed removal of certain taxes that will be present in the budget will show how the government intends to assist the private sector with the 24-Hour Economy policy.
“When the 2025 budget comes out, then we will see whether those taxes that have been removed are indeed growth-friendly and will create the right environment for businesses to create jobs. The 2025 budget will also show us how the government is planning to use the 24-Hour Economy Programme to assist the private sector create the required jobs,” he said, according to a myjoyonline.com report.
President John Dramani Mahama has called on businesses, entrepreneurs, and business owners to support the 24-Hour Economy policy his government intends to roll out.
According to him, the government is counting on the cooperation of private entities to ensure the success of the policy.
During his inaugural speech as Ghana's 6th president of the 4th Republic on January 7, 2025, he said there are four things he will focus on in his presidency.
"The first is the economic restoration and stabilisation of the macroeconomic environment. Second is the improvement of the business and investment environment to ensure that Ghana is once again open for business," he said.
Joe Jackson further said it is important to have a budget that will set the tone for the business community to see the government’s commitment.
“Within the context of an International Monetary Fund programme and challenging economic environment, we also want to see how the private sector will be prioritised so we can deliver the jobs needed,” he said.
He added, “The budget will also send some signals to the investors that the government is committed to attracting the needed FDI to develop the economy.”
