Women Entrepreneurs attend workshop

Dunkwa-On-Offin (C/R), Oct. 11, GNA - A two-day entrepreneurship training workshop for 50 women micro and small scale entrepreneurs was opened at Dunkwa-On-Offin on Saturday. The workshop, sponsored by Unilever Ghana Foundation, was aimed at improving the capacity of participants.

Mr Andrew E. Quayson, Chairman of Unilever Foundation for Education and Development, advised participants to apply the knowledge and skills they would acquire at the workshop diligently to improve their businesses. He said " The workshop would enable you to invest more in economic activities and create more jobs and enhance your contribution to your communities." Mr Quayson said the workshop formed part of Unilever's efforts to support female entrepreneurs to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the country. He said women played significant role in the management of the home any investment in them meant an investment in the human resource of the country.

Mr Quayson said Uniliver has contributed to the development of Ghana by supporting the building of human capacity, especially in the educational sector. He said Unilever has organised similar workshops in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, Brong Ahafo and Volta Regions. Mr Quayson said last year, 55 women entreprenuers in the Agona Swedru District benefited from the scheme and Unilever has targeted to train 805 women entrepreneurs at the cost of 68,000 Ghana cedis at the end of the series of workshops. 1
