Accra, March 15, GNA - Mr James D. Wolfensohn, World Bank President, is due in Accra on Friday for a three-day official visit during which he is expected to participate in the ECOWAS Heads of State Meeting.
Mr Wolfensohn is also billed to hold talks with the Government on the Bank's partnership with Ghana over the years especially over the last three years that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government took office and the introduction of the Multi Donor Budget Support Programme.
Mr Mats Karlsson, World Bank Country Director, in a statement made available to the Ghana News Agency said Mr Wolfensohn would meet President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday, March 22.
He is also scheduled to hold a number of engagements such as taking part in the Development Dialogue Series at the Distance Learning Centre of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) as well as hold a roundtable discussion on growth with the Private Sector. Meanwhile Ghana and the World Bank would sign a 78 million dollar Development Credit Agreement on Tuesday March 16, 2004.
Fifty per cent of the loan would be in reference to the Specific Investment Loan (SIL) for general education with the remaining 50 per cent going to tertiary education.
