Xerox to Increase Investments in Ghana

Xerox, producers of laser printers, digital copiers and advanced multifunction systems, has celebrated its one-year presence in Ghana, with a promise to increase its investment in hardware and software development in the near future.

The Regional Office Products Manager, Mr. Nawal Maati, in his address, said products of Xerox have been designed and made to suit the conditions of the tropical environment and would continue to create new technology to make business easy.

He stated that a research Xerox, which is a French company, conducted had revealed that workers spend at least 60% of the day dealing with documents. It also said that 29 weeks of work is spent managing 1.3 trillion documents produced in offices each year. He said the management of these requires new approach from the past and this is where Xerox products come in handy. "We are working with our partners and customers thinking up the best ways to capture and manage information."

He said research has shown that 3 to 5% of revenue is spent on documents. Mr. Maati noted that if documents and information are managed better, companies can reduce cost drastically, which implies increased profit.

In celebrating the one-year anniversary, the Deputy Minister of Communications, Dr. Benjamin Aggrey Ntim, expressed the government's commitment to facilitating the growth of Information Communication Technology (ICT) by promoting new products and services.

He said the ministry is promoting ICT through the incubator programme at the Ghana Multimedia Centre. The deputy minister called on young entrepreneurs to take advantage of environment.
