YISS’s Sanitation Excellence Awards set to hit Ghana in December

Youth in Sustainable Sanitation (YISS) a non-profit organization with the aim of sensitizing the youth on sanitation and public health is set to launch its maiden Sanitation Excellence Awards which will take of in December 2019.

Speaking exclusively to modernafricaonline.com, Project Manager for YISS, Ricky Allotey indicated that YISS is officially set to soon launch the much anticipated Sanitation Excellence Award.

He said the Sanitation Excellence Awards will be held in December, and the purpose of the award is to recognize the effort of various stakeholders in the sanitation industry as well as schools for their contribution in curbing the environmental sanitation in Ghana.

He said the objective is to make Ghana the most cleanest country in Africa, and can only be achieved if there are concentrated effort by all communities and organizations to change the mindset of citizens as well as develop more creative and eco-friendly ways of managing waste.

The Project Manager for YISS noted that “this very objective has always been the topmost priority of Youth in Sustainable Sanitation and therefore, it’s a great privilege to organize the maiden edition of Sanitation Excellence Awards”.

Meanwhile the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) endorsed the initiative of the Youth In Sustainable Sanitation (YISS) when they paid a courtesy call on the UNDP Ghana Assistant Country Director, Louis Kuukpen, last month to present the Initiatives Documents, programme line up and activities.
