Yahsat launches high speed satellite service in Ghana

One of Africa’s leading United Arab Emirates-based satellite operator Yahsat has officially launched its broadband satellite service, Yahclick here in Ghana.

YahClick is a broadband service which provides affordable, reliable and high-speed Internet connectivity to individuals and organization for economic and social progress.

Yahclick broadband service can also be used to support government-led initiatives, especially in education and health sector.

The project is in partnership with Ghana’s regional broadcast and internet service providers Comsys and Teledata limited.

Speaking at the event, country manager for Yahsat, Africa, Denver Bartman stated that Sub-Saharan Africa has suffered substantial economic losses in recent years due to frequent Internet breakdowns that directly affect fixed, wireless, and mobile Internet connectivity. Here in Ghana, reports suggest each communication disruption costs the country approximately $6.3m a day, with disruptions expected to total 22 days in 2018

“This service is a groundbreaking technology for us, by providing connectivity to individuals and business using the Ka-band powered by High Throughput Satellite (HTS) spot beam technology, we are certain that YahClick will bring a more robust internet infrastructure in Ghana, and the impact across businesses, communities and government will be significant. Overall it will contribute to making Ghana a more attractive investment prospect. “



The Chief Executive Officer for Teledata ICT limited, Greg Eid added that “We believe that YahClick services will not only successfully meet our customers’ needs, but also open up new business opportunities across various industries. Yahsat launched its flagship service, YahClick, in Africa in 2012.

It was the first operator to introduce HTS Ka-Band satellite broadband technology to the continent through Yahsat’s Al Yah 2 satellite. Following the successful launch earlier this year, and the recent commercial readiness of the company’s third satellite Al yah 3, YahClick’s footprint has extended to 19 additional markets in Africa, including Ghana.
