A youth organisation, Kwatire-Adantia Youth in Action (KAYIA) was on Thursday inaugurated at Kwatire in the Sunyani West District of Brong-Ahafo Region to create a sustainable means of livelihood for the unemployed.

The organisation aims at creating jobs for the youth and women in the two sister towns of Kwatire and Adantia to keep them engaged and bring down social vices.

A press release signed by Mr. Bernard Oduro Takyi, Project Coordinator of KAYIA and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, on Saturday, noted that the clarion call in the country now “is nothing but jobs for the youth”.

It stated that members had united to “champion the agenda of creating jobs together,” as their contribution to relieve the people in the two communities of financial and economic hardships.

The release stressed that “poverty is a real disease and not a social canker”, saying, it was the dream of the organisation that “Kwatire and Adantia will be places where jobs shall be created for every hardworking youth and enthusiastic woman”.

It said the organisation would enter into partnerships and effectively collaborate with such partners to achieve its objectives.

The release said KAYIA would focus on social entrepreneurship, by strictly adhering to its core values of self-discipline, commitment without inducement, broad consultation, creativity and innovation, honesty and integrity, transparency and accountability.

It disclosed that the organisation would undertake various projects including beauty care, fashion design, gari and food processing, grass cutter rearing, mushroom farming, poultry and fish farming, to create opportunities for interested individuals to generate jobs for themselves.
