Charles Yaw Darabor, Assembly Member and 2018 Akuapem South Municipal Best Farmer has urged the youth of the municipality to learn employable skills.
He suggested to them to learn skills like bee keeping, poultry farming, tie and dye and others that do not need heavy capitals to start so that they could easily employ themselves instead of rushing to the cities seeking for none existing white colour jobs.
Mr Darabor, Assembly Member for Darmang Electoral Area in the Akuapem South Municipal Area in the Eastern Region made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Darmang when he visited a 15-acre farm of vegetables at Kwasitenten, a suburb of Darmang.
He commended the government for the introduction of Planting for Food and Jobs and also for subsidizing agro- chemicals and seeds for the farmers.
Mr Darabor advised the youth to take farming as a career and commended the Canadian Government and the Ghana Government for donation of 20 motorbikes to the Agriculture Extension officers to help them go to the farmers.
He appealed to the government for the construction of cold rooms for the storage of vegetables
