Accra, May 13, GNA - Mr Philip Sowah, Managing Director of Zain Ghana, has been voted Ghana's Most
Respected Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the telecom industry. Zain also received recognition as one of the top 10 most respected companies in Ghana. A statement issued by the Corporate Affairs of Zain said, the event dubbed, "Ghana's Most Respected Company
and CEO Awards 2010 Awards," was organized by, PricewaterhouseCoopers, a global accounting firm and Business
& Financial Times, an Accra based financial newspaper. It noted that the Award, which seeks to recognize and reward excellence in corporate Ghana, was based on a
peer review system conducted among CEOs in the country. Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, CEO of UT Financial Services, was, however, the general winner of the award, for 2009,
with his company also adjudged the Ghana's Most Respected Company. The statement said the selection procedures involved a survey conducted by an independent research firm,
Synovate Research, in which several CEOs and business leaders were interviewed and the top 10 were selected. The highest mentioned CEO and highest mentioned company emerged as winners. "The criteria for judging CEOs were based on parameters, including unique and excellent leadership style, vision
and innovation, good corporate governance practices, and professionalism with high level of competence, efficiency
and technology adoption. "The companies were evaluated on the basis of social responsibility, excellent business culture, strong brand
name, high stakeholder value, excellent, creative, and marketing and customer service focus, and efficient and
effective use of technological development," it said. Mr. Sowah, receiving the award said, "It gives us great pride to have our efforts in building a strong brand,
commitment to corporate social responsibility and excellent business culture, recognized in this way." He expressed appreciation to the organizer for recognizing the hard work of the company to helping the socio-
economic development of the country.
