Accra, March 1, GNA - Mrs Pavelyn Tendal Musaka, Zimbabwean Ambassador to Ghana on Thursday said her country was implementing pragmatic measures that would enable her to normalise effective trade relations with Ghana and the rest of Africa.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday at the on-going 11th Ghana International Trade and Exhibition Fair, she said, 93Zimbabwe trade relations with Ghana has been on a decline for years now but steps are being taken to promote trade between the two nations".

Mrs Musaka said this when she joined Zimbabwean exhibitors at the fair ground to celebrate the country's day as part of an arrangements by the Ghana Trade Fair Company for nations to promote and foster trade relations. Mrs Musaka said one area that African governments seemed to have achieved very little was in the area of the promotion of intra African trade, indicating trade among Africa countries held the key to transforming most economies.

She said Zimbabwe's comparative advantage lay in the production of beef, gold, soybean and horticulture, but she said her country was looking at areas such as fruit juices, wine and beef to trade with Ghana.

Mrs Musaka said her government had initiated programmes to support in diverse ways small and medium scale enterprises and help them expand their businesses after the revolution to redistribute land that saw most white farmers abandoning their farms. Some of the items being exhibited at the Zimbabwean Stand include tobacco products, textiles, fruit juice, and artefacts.
