Anwiafutu (Ash), May 01, GNA - The Kente Weavers at Anwiafutu in the Atwima-Mponua District have threatened not to pay any tax to the district assembly for failing to grant them loans under the Poverty Alleviation Fund.

The weavers complained that the assembly had denied them from benefiting from the facility but send them to court when they fail to pay their taxes.

They made this known when Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, visited the area at the weekend. The kente weavers appealed to the MP to collaborate with the assembly to grant them loans to expand their businesses to enable them to pay their taxes promptly.

The chiefs and people of Anwiafutu also told the MP that they have bought 90 low-tension poles for the extension of electricity from Adiembra to the town and called for support.

They also commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for constructing a block of six classrooms, library, toilet facility and dual desks under the Promoting Partnership with Traditional Authorities Project (PPTAP) for the community.

Mr Asiamah said the Agricultural Development Bank and KWF, a German firm, would dig 320 boreholes in the constituency and donated 60 bags of cement and three packets of roofing sheets to the kente weavers to build their centre.
