Accra, Nov. 12, GNA - Gemini Life Insurance Company (GLICO) on Wednesday presented a cheque for GH¢10,000 as its donation towards the setting up of a Trust Fund in memory of the late Minister of Finance, Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu.

President John Agyekum Kufuor proposed the establishment of the fund in memory of the late minister, politician and chartered accountant at a state funeral service in his honour.

Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GLICO, said the late Minister must be remembered for his invaluable contributions to the development of the country. He said the donation was the company's little contribution towards immortalising the good works of Mr Baah-Wiredu. In a related development, the company also presented a cheque for GH¢10,000 as life insurance benefits to the late Minister. The Minister is insured under a group comprehensive insurance scheme for Ministers, Parliamentarians and staff at the Presidency. The policy entered into by government on behalf of the Ministers, Parliamentarians and staff at the Presidency, covers death, accidental injuries and terminal illness.

Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, who received the two cheques, thanked GLICO for the swift manner in which it met its obligation.
