Ho, Oct. 29, GNA -The chairman of the Volta Trade, Investment and Cultural Fair, Mr Richard Ameyedewo, has called on the people of the Volta Region to take advantage of the fair to boost their businesses. He said this in an interview with the GNA on Wednesday at Ho. He said that the stunning success of the 2009 expo fair resulted in the high number of investors from abroad. He noted that the 2010 Volta Trade, Investment and Cultural Fair, the Volta Region's investment highway, was again expected to attract more investors from abroad.

The 2010 Fair, scheduled for November 22 to December 5, 2010, has as its theme, "Volta Region: Investors' Destination." Mr Ameyedowo said the fair would have a cultural scope, in order to serve as a platform to market the Region's tourism potentials. He could not provide the details of the extent of investment to the Region as a result of the 2009 fair, but stated that "the massive improvements in the agricultural and tourism sectors" were the main indicators of growth linked to the debut fair.

He said the focus of the yearly fair was to promote agricultural development, tourism, the exploring of opportunities for local and foreign partnership, and direct attention to the role of the private sector in the Region's economic development, among others. This year, the proposed activities for the Fair include exhibitions, business sessions, seminars and presentations, product launchings and cultural expositions.

The Fair, co-sponsored by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI) and the Regional House of Chiefs, is being facilitated by the Netherlands Development Agency (SNV)
