MTN Ghana introduces most affordable internet phone

Accra, Nov. 12, GNA - MTN Ghana has introduced the most affordable internet-enabled cell phone on the Ghanaian and African markets. The phone, dubbed G1157 is being offered to subscribers at GH¢15 (= $10), and compares favourably with other phones being offered by other networks= at similar prices or more, but without the internet enablement. Mr Ebenezer Asante, Sales Executive of MTN Ghana ,said the phone has=

He said subscribers also get 20 free SMS (text messages) and GH¢2 bonus on usage in the first month, plus a whopping 300 per cent bonus on first recharge in the third month of usage.

"Those who buy the new phone for purposes of MTN Credit Transfer service will pay GH¢30 but get GH¢25 worth of free airtime," he said. Mr Asante noted that subscribers who purchase the new affordable pho= ne will also enjoy the lowest call tariffs in the country and in Africa on M= TN. He observed that generally, call tariffs in Ghana was the lowest in=

Africa and one of the lowest in the world. Mr Asante explained that the world's lowest call tariff of 5 cents i= s in Asia. He said MTN's call tariffs, which gets to as low as 7.5Gp, is the closest to the lowest call tariff in the world. The Sales Executive said MTN is happy to give the average Ghanaian great telecommunication experience at the most affordable cost possible. He expressed the hope that the new G1157 internet-enabled phone, plu= s the huge tariff cuts would give more Ghanaians the opportunity to have so= me level of value-added service at very affordable price.
