The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has dismissed reports suggesting that the price of cement is set to increase by GH¢6 from Monday, January 19, 2026.
In a statement issued on Saturday January 17, 2026, the Authority said it had not approved any price adjustments for cement products on the Ghanaian market and urged the public to disregard the false and misleading claims in circulation.
According to the GSA, pricing decisions remain the responsibility of manufacturers and distributors, and any claims linking the Authority to a supposed increase are inaccurate.

The Authority further advised consumers, retailers, and industry stakeholders to verify information from official sources before reacting to such claims, warning that misinformation could cause unnecessary panic and distortions in the market.
“We advise the public to be cautious of false information and to verify claims through our official channels before taking any action,” the Authority concluded.
