Health Goldfields pays GH¢136m in outstanding liabilities to ex-mine workers

Health Goldfields Bogoso-Prestea Mine has settled its outstanding legacy liabilities of GH¢136 million owed to former workers of the Bogoso-Prestea mine.

The payment forms part of the company’s efforts to clear longstanding arrears with its former employees, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreed with the Mineworkers’ Union.

In a press release dated January 19, 2026, Health Goldfields stated that the payment is part of a broader strategy to address historical liabilities associated with its operations.

The company added that, as part of reinforcing its commitment to responsible mining, it continues to uphold sustainable business practices in Ghana.

“At Health Goldfields, integrity is not just a value, it guides our actions. Honouring these obligations reinforces our purpose of enriching lives through sustainable gold mining and strengthens the trust we continue to build with our employees, partners, and communities,” the statement read.

The release further noted that “Health Goldfields Ltd. continues to work closely with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that all statutory, financial, and operational responsibilities are met in line with applicable laws and best industry practices.”

The company reaffirmed its core mandate of safeguarding mining operations in Ghana while advancing its mission to contribute meaningfully to the country’s mining sector and national development.
