Government assures ongoing engagement with cement manufacturers over fair pricing

The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained engagement with cement manufacturers to ensure fair and stable pricing for consumers, as part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation across the construction value chain.

The assurance was given by the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, on Monday, January 19, 2026, after a meeting with key players in the cement manufacturing industry to discuss pricing concerns and other sector-related issues.

According to the minister, the discussions highlighted the readiness of manufacturers to collaborate with the government to promote pricing fairness and adhere strictly to existing regulations.

“We want to assure the general public that industry players are ready and willing to work with government to ensure that cement prices remain fair,” she stated.

She further praised the manufacturers for their commitment to lawful operations and their openness in engaging government on the factors influencing cement prices.

“I want to commend them for assuring us of their compliance with the law, and for agreeing to promptly communicate any challenges aside from foreign exchange fluctuations that may affect pricing, so that together we can agree on the most appropriate solutions,” she added.

The minister noted that sustained dialogue between government and manufacturers is expected to enhance transparency, reduce market uncertainty, safeguard consumer interests, and at the same time ensure the long-term sustainability of the cement industry.

The engagement forms part of the government’s wider efforts to stabilise prices in critical sectors of the economy and support growth within the construction industry.
