I think that should be the way. Goldbod must be funded directly but their purchase price be less than the world market price in order not to create loss. However, bank of Ghana must buy from them to cushion the exchange rate. ...

The talk is about GoldBod buying gold directly from miners to refine and not who GoldBod is going to buy the gold from. Whether from the illegal miners(galamseyers)or whatever nobody cares anymore. The President who vehemently advocated for a state of emergency to be declared to help combat galamsey has now turn around to tell Ghanaians that stopping illegal mining will damage the country economically and therefore we should accept things as they are. With this new policy are we not transferring losses to goldbod?

We would rather be happy to know the gains as a result of appreciation of the cedi as against the loss of $214m. When we are able to do this and ascertain a positive net position, then we can confidently justify the loss of $214m whether with BOG or goldbod.
