The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, has announced that the government will soon publish details of all applications for public lands submitted between 2017 and 2024 to enhance transparency and accountability in the management of state lands.

The initiative forms part of broader reforms by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Lands Commission, aimed at strengthening oversight in the allocation and administration of public lands across the country.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Sulemana explained that authorities had conducted a comprehensive review of thousands of applications over the past several months.

The exercise assessed submissions from individuals, private companies, and various organisations seeking to acquire or lease government lands within the period.

He noted that the review uncovered several irregularities, including applications that failed to meet the required criteria and allocations that had to be revoked.

According to the Deputy Minister, more than 8,000 applications were examined during the process. Some allocations have since been revoked, while others that met the necessary requirements remain valid.

Sulemana added that one of the key recommendations approved by Cabinet was the public disclosure of all reviewed applications.

Consequently, the Lands Commission will soon publish the list of completed and uncompleted public land applications by region to ensure transparency in the allocation of government lands.
