The VIP section of Accra International Airport has been shut down to allow for renovation works aimed at upgrading the facility.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the closure of the VVIP Lounge took effect on Friday, April 3, 2026, and the facility is scheduled to reopen on April 10, 2026.
In a statement issued in Accra on April 3, 2026, the ministry emphasised that the exercise is part of broader efforts to modernize key national infrastructure and enhance service delivery.
It further assured the public of its commitment to maintaining efficient and high-quality services despite the temporary disruption.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform all accredited stakeholders of the temporary closure of the VVIP Lounge at the Accra International Airport to allow for scheduled renovation works aimed at enhancing the safety, comfort and overall functionality of the facility.
“The closure will take effect from Friday, 3rd April 2026 and the facility is expected to be reopened for use on Friday, 10th April 2026.
“The renovation forms part of ongoing efforts to upgrade key national infrastructure and improve service delivery to high-level dignitaries and official guests,” part of the statement read.
