Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is the Minister of Finance
The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, is set to lead a government delegation to Washington, D.C., for the 2026 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
The meetings, scheduled from April 13 to April 19, 2026, will bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, development partners, and global investors to discuss the state of the global economy and strategies to support growth.
Dr Forson will be accompanied by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the central bank.

During the week-long engagements, the delegation is expected to hold a series of meetings, including discussions with senior IMF and World Bank officials, investor engagements, ministerial meetings, and talks on sovereign debt issues.
The meetings come at a time when Ghana is on track to exit its IMF-supported programme in August 2026.
The country has recorded some improvements in its economic indicators since entering the programme about three years ago, according to government sources.
In Washington, the Finance Minister is expected to use the platform to strengthen relations with development partners, attract investment into key sectors of the economy, and advocate for reforms in the global financial system to better reflect the needs of developing countries.
The Spring Meetings are also expected to highlight Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery efforts, as the country seeks to restore investor confidence.
In addition to government officials and central bank leadership, the meetings will also be attended by civil society organisations and independent economists from Ghana.
Members of Parliament are also expected to be part of the delegation, including the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, Abena Osei-Asare, along with other ranking members of select parliamentary committees.
