A new country risk assessment report by Sompa & Partners has highlighted that while Ghana is showing signs of macroeconomic recovery, significant structural risks remain that require close attention from businesses and investors.

The National Risk Dimension Report (NRDR), published annually by the firm, describes Ghana as being at a critical economic turning point in its Q1 2026 edition.

The latest report introduces a major methodological upgrade, combining a Residual Risk framework with the firm’s existing seven-dimension risk structure to provide a more rigorous analysis of the business environment.

According to the report, Ghana’s economic outlook has improved following recent fiscal adjustments, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA), where he declared that “Ghana is back, Ghana is working again.”

The report notes that this narrative is supported by what it describes as a year of “verifiable fiscal recovery,” pointing to stabilising macroeconomic indicators.

However, the NRDR cautions that beneath the improving headline figures lie deeper structural challenges that could affect long-term business confidence and investment decisions.

It identified seven key risk dimensions that continue to shape Ghana’s economic environment, urging businesses to actively reassess their risk exposure and strategies when operating in the country.

The report further emphasised that while Ghana’s recovery trajectory is encouraging, sustained progress will depend on how effectively these underlying risks are managed.

Sompa & Partners said the NRDR is intended to serve as a strategic tool to guide corporate decision-making and enhance risk awareness among stakeholders engaging with Ghana’s economy.
