The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced the establishment of a ministerial committee to review the revocation of the licence of Adamus Resources Limited.

The decision follows a petition submitted by the mining company, requesting an administrative review and reversal of the earlier decision.

Speaking during a meeting with management of Adamus on Thursday, the Minister said the move was guided by the principles of fairness and the need to protect investment in Ghana’s mining sector.

“It is important that as a Minister I look at the petition that has been brought, and I can say it has been a very constructive meeting,” he stated, adding that the process is being undertaken in the interest of both investors and the Ghanaian public.

The committee, comprising officials from the Minerals Commission and the Lands Ministry, has been given two weeks to present its findings.

Buah indicated that Adamus would be given the opportunity to respond to any issues raised during the review process before a final decision is made.

“We will directly engage Adamus and give them the opportunity to address the issues,” he said.

In the interim, the Minister has constituted a management committee to oversee operations at the company’s mining site to ensure order and continuity while the review is ongoing.

He emphasised that the Ministry would conduct the process without prejudice to the earlier findings of the Minerals Commission.

Responding to the development, Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources, Angela List, expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for the decision to revisit the matter.

She also thanked workers, the public and the media for their support, while rejecting allegations levelled against the company.

“We are a responsible mining company and we do not engage in illegality,” she said, noting that the company has submitted evidence to support its petition.
