The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) says it will integrate about 15 government institutions into its Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) as part of efforts to broaden the tax net and improve revenue mobilisation.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement on the ITAS rollout on June 5, 2026, Commissioner-General Anthony Sarpong said the integration will enhance efficiency in tax administration while making it easier to identify and bring more individuals and businesses into the tax system.
“Indeed, our plans are broadly targeting those who are in the net and those who are not. For those who are in the net, it gives them the opportunity to efficiently and settle their taxes, and for those who are not, it also gives us the opportunity to bring them onto the tax net and allow them to also contribute their fair quota towards national development,” he explained.
GRA deepens engagement on ITAS to boost revenue collection
He noted that the system is designed not only to improve internal processes within the GRA but also to connect with other state institutions to strengthen data sharing and compliance.
“We say integrated because it’s not just integrating within systems of GRA. We are going to integrate with other government systems,” Sarpong stated.
He mentioned institutions such as the Registrar-General’s Department, Ghana Statistical Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Passport Office, and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) among those expected to be linked to the platform.
According to him, about 15 government institutions will be integrated into the system under the digital reform programme.
“We have a programme to integrate about 15 government institutions so that every citizen and every business, as they operate within government systems in Ghana, their data will be able to connect with us,” he said.
Sarpong added that the integration will allow the Authority to better track economic activity and improve revenue mobilisation for national development.
“As they do their businesses, they can also contribute to mobilising revenue for state development,” he noted.
The ITAS platform forms part of GRA’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at improving efficiency, expanding the tax base, and enhancing compliance across the country.
