Ghana courts Canadian investment through Toronto Business Forum

Ghana and Canada are set to strengthen economic cooperation as investors, business leaders, policymakers and development partners gather in Toronto for the 2026 Ghana-Canada Investment Forum.

The forum, scheduled for June 15, 2026, at the Westin Harbour Castle Conference Centre in Toronto, Ontario, will provide a platform for exploring investment opportunities, fostering partnerships and advancing initiatives aimed at supporting Ghana's economic transformation agenda.

The event is being organised by the GHFA Global Investment Forum Initiative in collaboration with Stratcomm Africa and Kwakaf International.

A major focus of the forum will be Ghana's 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme (24H+), which organisers say offers significant opportunities for industrialisation, export expansion, trade competitiveness, job creation and productivity growth.

Participants will discuss how Canadian businesses and investors can partner with Ghanaian enterprises and institutions to contribute to and benefit from the country's economic transformation agenda.

The event is being held in collaboration with the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat and the Ghana Tourism Authority and is expected to bring together investors, business leaders, policymakers and development partners from both countries.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, will chair the event. Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Gyakye Quayson, is expected to deliver the keynote address.

A key feature of the forum will be a Deal Room Session facilitated by ThirdWay Capital, a Canadian impact-focused investment firm, and The Asili Initiative, a Canadian non-profit organisation focused on strengthening economic relations between Canada and African countries.

According to the organisers, the session will connect high-level delegates, investors and business leaders from Ghana and Canada to showcase investment opportunities, strengthen bilateral business relationships and promote strategic partnerships that support sustainable economic growth.

Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), the lead sponsor of the forum, says it remains committed to promoting economic growth, entrepreneurship and investments that contribute to Ghana's long-term development and competitiveness.

Other partners supporting the event include the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and ThirdWay Capital.

The forum is being hosted during the FIFA World Cup period and organisers believe it presents a unique opportunity to engage a diverse international audience while promoting trade and investment cooperation between Ghana and Canada.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Stratcomm Africa, Esther A. N. Cobbah, expressed optimism about the prospects of the event.
