Transport, accommodation remain hotspots for producer inflation - GSS

Ghana's accommodation, food services and transport sectors continued to face strong producer price pressures in June 2026, even as overall producer inflation slowed to its lowest level in months.

According to the Ghana Statistical Service's (GSS) June 2026 Producer Price Index (PPI) report, released on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, accommodation and food service activities recorded annual producer inflation of 10.8%, while transport and storage posted 10.0%, both well above the national producer inflation rate of 3.5%.

Within the services sector, producer prices for accommodation and food services increased by 0.6% month-on-month, while transport and storage recorded a 2.9% increase.

Overall, services producer inflation stood at 2.5% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month.

The report further showed that inflation in accommodation services accelerated sharply to 11.6% in June, up from 3.1% in May, while food and beverage service activities recorded annual inflation of 6.8%.

In the transport sector, land transport recorded the highest producer inflation at 21.4%, while air transport remained unchanged at 10.3%.

Meanwhile, the overall Producer Price Index declined by 3.7% between May and June, reflecting easing price pressures across the broader economy, particularly in the mining sector.
