Ghana’s economy has surpassed the $100 billion mark for the first time in the country’s history, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has announced.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review to Parliament on July 23, 2026, he said this reflects the progress made in strengthening the economy and restoring confidence.

He said exceeding the $100 billion mark in 2025 positions the country as one of Africa’s major emerging economies.

The Finance Minister also announced a significant rise in Ghana’s per capita income, which increased by more than $850 within one year.

According to him, per capita income rose from $2,527 in 2024 to $3,385 at the end of 2025, the highest level ever recorded in Ghana’s history.

“Ghana’s per capita income increased by more than US$850 in just one year, rising from US$2,527 in 2024 to US$3,385 at the end of 2025,” the minister said.

He added that the growth in the economy has contributed to Ghana’s recognition as the eighth-largest economy in Africa.

The Minister attributed the development to ongoing efforts by government to stabilise the economy, improve macroeconomic conditions and rebuild investor confidence.
