The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed claims by the Minority Caucus in Parliament that the institution is recording losses and mismanaging public funds.
The Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, in a post shared on X noted that the board recorded an operational surplus of GH¢909.7 million and an overall surplus of GH¢5.44 billion for the 2025 financial year.
According to him, the figures were contained in GoldBod’s 2025 audited Annual Report and Financial Statements prepared by the Auditor-General and published on the institution’s website.

He said the board’s performance was achieved despite challenges including a more than 23% decline in international gold prices since February this year and a reduction in pricing incentives for the implementation of its baseline programme from about 14% to 6%
He maintained that GoldBod has continued to make progress in gold purchases, foreign exchange generation, supporting gold reserve accumulation, promoting local value addition and advancing sustainability initiatives.
“GoldBod has remained on course in achieving remarkable successes relative to the volume of gold purchases, foreign exchange generation, support for gold reserve accumulation, local value addition, support for sustainability initiatives and the achievement of our surplus target for the 2026 financial year,” he said
The GoldBod CEO further urged the public and the media to disregard what he described as “false claims” about the operations of the institution by members of the Minority Caucus.

He accused the minority of making “spurious claims” that the GoldBod was incurring losses and siphoning public funds.
“These ridiculous claims can only be a figment of the imaginations of these incorrigible MPs who ought to know better,” he stated.
Sammy Gyamfi assured that GoldBod remained committed to fulfilling its mandate and would not be distracted by criticisms, adding that the institution’s achievements would have a lasting impact on the Ghanaian economy.
