Thomas Nyarko Ampem is the Deputy Minister of Finance
The Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has defended the decision to always compare Ghana’s current economy under the John Dramani Mahama-led administration to what happened under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo almost two years after taking over the administration of the country.
According to him, a lot of work has been done by the current administration to ensure the country’s economy becomes resilient, so it is imperative that the Ghanaian people are aware of what the government inherited and the work it has invested in to achieve that.
Thomas Nyarko Ampem made this known on Accra-based TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
“For you to appreciate where we are, it is critical that you appreciate where we came from. It was to put everything in context for everybody to appreciate the achievements," he said.
“It was basically a good appreciation of the trajectory of the path this economy has travelled,” the deputy finance minister added.
