Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah is Acting Minister for Environment, Science and Technology
The Acting Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has outlined key measures the government is taking to ensure the successful implementation of the Environmental Protection Authority Act, 2025 (Act 1124).
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Armah-Kofi Buah said six new regulations have been passed to support the implementation of the new Act.
The regulations are the Environmental Assessment Regulations, Effluent Regulations, Air Quality Regulations, Ozone Regulations, Petroleum Regulations, and Certification of Air Conditioners Regulations.
He noted that existing regulations, guidelines and manuals have also been revised to align with Act 1124.
Institutional strengthening
The Minister said the EPA has already begun training its staff and relevant stakeholders on the new legal requirements, procedures and enforcement tools.
To further strengthen enforcement, he announced plans to recruit additional personnel and open new EPA offices in various districts across the country.
Armah-Kofi Buah stated that the measures are aimed at strengthening the EPA’s capacity to tackle current environmental challenges and ensure full compliance with the new law.
