The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has launched the 2026 National ICT Week Celebration.
NITA has also unveiled an ambitious agenda aimed at accelerating digital transformation, fostering innovation and positioning Ghana as a leading digital economy in Africa.
Speaking at the official launch on July 29, 2026, the Acting Director-General of NITA, Yaw Amoah-Yeboah, described the initiative as more than just an event, calling it “a national movement” designed to create opportunities, attract investment, empower young people, and strengthen Ghana’s digital ecosystem.
The 2026 National ICT Week will be held from August 17 to 20, 2026, under the theme, “Innovation at Scale: Creating Opportunities Across Ghana’s Digital Ecosystem.” The celebration is expected to bring together policymakers, technology companies, startups, investors, researchers, students, development partners, and innovators from across the country and beyond.
Addressing development partners, industry representatives, media practitioners and other stakeholders, Amoah-Yeboah emphasized the critical role of technology in shaping Ghana’s future.

He noted that countries around the world are rapidly advancing in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech and digital infrastructure, creating new wealth and opportunities for their citizens.
“Ghana cannot afford to watch from the sidelines. Ghana must lead,” he stated, stressing the need for innovation to move beyond research laboratories and conference rooms into classrooms, hospitals, farms, businesses, government services, and communities.
According to him, the theme for this year’s celebration reflects the country’s commitment to ensuring that technology benefits every Ghanaian and contributes meaningfully to national development.
Amoah-Yeboah highlighted the importance of collaboration in building a thriving digital economy, noting that government, the private sector, academia, development partners, investors and citizens all have critical roles to play.
He reaffirmed NITA’s commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure, enhancing interoperability across government institutions, improving digital public services, promoting cybersecurity, and creating an enabling environment for businesses and innovators to thrive.
The Acting Director-General also outlined key activities planned for the four-day event. These include a major technology exhibition showcasing Ghana’s most innovative digital solutions, high-level discussions on Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, digital finance, digital trust, and national digital sovereignty, as well as executive dialogues connecting policymakers with industry leaders.
He called on technology companies to showcase Ghanaian excellence, urged startups to leverage the platform to attract investors and partners, and encouraged universities and researchers to contribute knowledge and innovation toward shaping national policy.
The Acting Director-General also challenged the media to play a leading role in promoting Ghana’s digital transformation agenda by highlighting success stories, showcasing local innovations, and inspiring confidence in the country’s ability to compete globally.
He expressed optimism that the initiative would stimulate entrepreneurship, attract investment, create jobs, and generate partnerships capable of transforming lives and communities across the country.
