Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has pledged to dedicate one‑third of his wealth to charity, ensuring his philanthropic legacy continues for generations.

His daughter, Halima Dangote, who serves as Executive Director of the Dangote Group, disclosed in an interview with Bloomberg that the billionaire has already donated 25% of his fortune to the Dangote Foundation.

He has also committed 33% of his inheritance to humanitarian causes in line with the Sharia Accord in Islam.

“If you look at it, what we call the Sharia Accord in Islam, it means he has donated 33 percent of his whole inheritance to his foundation,” she explained.

Halima emphasised that her father’s decision reflects his belief that wealth should serve society beyond one generation.

“Philanthropy needs to exist generation after generation. Giving back is part and parcel of what we do,” she said.
