The gold coins are part of the Bank of Ghana’s Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP)
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has priced its one-ounce gold coin at GH¢49,788.33 for Monday, August 17, 2026.
The 0.50-ounce coin is priced at GH¢25,241.12, while the 0.25-ounce coin, the smallest denomination, is selling at GH¢12,989.74.
The prices are based on the previous day’s London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) PM gold price of $4,390.70 per ounce and a Bloomberg reference exchange rate of GH¢10.9500 to $1.
The gold coins are part of the Bank of Ghana’s Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP), under which the central bank purchases gold from local small-scale miners to help build the country’s gold reserves and support stability in the foreign exchange market.
A portion of the gold purchased under the programme is converted into coins and sold to the public as an investment product.
This allows Ghanaians to invest directly in gold without having to access international gold markets.
The coins are sold through the Bank of Ghana and its accredited dealers, with prices adjusted daily to reflect changes in the international price of gold and movements in the cedi-dollar exchange rate.
