The engagement focused on the importance of creating more opportunities for young people
Majority Leader in Parliament, James Agalga, has paid a visit to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, at the Authority’s headquarters in Accra.
The visit, which took place on Monday, August 17, 2026, provided an opportunity for the two to interact and discuss matters relating to the work of the National Youth Authority and efforts to advance the interests and welfare of young people across the country.
The engagement focused on the importance of creating more opportunities for young people, particularly in the areas of skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and capacity building.
Agalga commended Osman Ayariga for his work at the Authority and encouraged him to remain focused and continue his efforts to serve the interests of Ghana’s youth.
He noted the important role of the NYA in shaping policies and programmes that respond to the aspirations and challenges facing young people, particularly at a time when youth development remains a key priority on the national agenda.
The Majority Leader also expressed his support for initiatives aimed at equipping young people with relevant skills and creating pathways for them to participate meaningfully in the country’s economic and social development.
The visit was warmly received by the NYA CEO, who expressed appreciation to the Majority Leader for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit his “younger brother” and offer his support and encouragement.
Osman Ayariga said the gesture demonstrated the importance of collaboration and institutional support in advancing initiatives targeted at young people.
He further expressed his commitment to working with stakeholders, including Parliament and other relevant institutions, to strengthen programmes that promote youth empowerment and create opportunities for Ghana’s young population.
The engagement ended on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming the need for continued collaboration and dialogue to advance policies and initiatives that place the interests of young people at the centre of national development.
