The remains of the late Deputy Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Dramani Bukari, have arrived in Ghana from the United Kingdom where he passed away.

The body was received at the Accra International Airport by the Minister of Energy, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor; NPA Chief Executive Officer, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo; members of the NPA leadership; representatives of the bereaved family; and other friends and dignitaries.

The NPA described the reception as a “solemn, grief-filled ceremony” as colleagues and loved ones gathered to pay their final respects to the late Deputy Chief Executive.

Deputy NPA CEO reported dead

In a statement shared on social media, the Authority said Dr Dramani Bukari’s remains had been brought back to the country ahead of his burial and other funeral rites.

“Burial service continues in Damongo – Savannah Region tomorrow, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 8:00am,” the NPA said.

The Authority expressed profound sorrow over the death of Dr Dramani Bukari, describing the loss as deeply painful and difficult to bear.

“For us at the National Petroleum Authority, this is a loss so painful to bear. It is a teeth-gnashing grief that may take forever to heal,” the NPA stated.

The Authority further paid tribute to the late Deputy Chief Executive, describing him as a humble man whose life was cherished and whose absence would leave an irreplaceable void.

“A man so humble and a life so cherished and irreplaceable returns to His Maker,” the NPA said.

Dr Dramani Bukari’s burial and funeral rites are expected to continue in Damongo in the Savannah Region, where family, friends, colleagues and other mourners will gather to bid him farewell.

The NPA concluded its tribute with a final message: “Rest on, Sir.”
