President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana is strengthening its partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to support commercial agriculture, energy, digital connectivity and transport infrastructure under the government’s Big Push programme.

According to the President, he hosted IFC Managing Director Makhtar Diop at the Presidency on Thursday, September 17, 2026, to discuss areas of cooperation between Ghana and the international development finance institution.

In a post on X, President Mahama said the discussions focused on strengthening the partnership in key sectors to support Ghana’s economic transformation.

“I hosted Mr Makhtar Diop, MD of @IFC_org, at the Presidency today to strengthen our partnership in commercial agriculture, energy, digital connectivity, and transport infrastructure under The Big Push,” he wrote.

President Mahama also said Ghana’s economic recovery was gaining momentum, citing what he described as falling inflation and renewed investor confidence.

He attributed the progress to what he described as “strict fiscal discipline”.

The President further said he highlighted a $300 million World Bank deal aimed at ending the double-track system in senior high schools (SHSs) permanently by 2027.

He said the IFC’s commitment to Ghana’s value-addition agenda and commercial agriculture vision would support the country’s efforts towards sustainable growth.

The meeting comes as the government continues to pursue the Big Push programme, which places emphasis on infrastructure development and investment in key productive sectors of the economy.
