2027 Budget takes shape ahead of November presentation

Ghana’s 2027 Budget is taking shape as ministers and their teams meet officials of the Ministry of Finance to discuss their plans and priorities for next year.

The budget hearings, which have been ongoing throughout the week, are aimed at determining what each ministry needs to implement its programmes in 2027.

The discussions are also helping the Ministry of Finance determine how government funds should be allocated among the various sectors.

The focus is on preparing a budget that addresses the needs of Ghanaians and supports the government’s development plans.

The 2027 Budget Statement is likely to be presented to Parliament in the first week of November 2026.

The timing is in line with Article 179(1) of the 1992 Constitution, which requires the President to cause estimates of government revenue and expenditure for the following financial year to be prepared and laid before Parliament at least one month before the end of the financial year.

The Ministry of Finance will use proposals from the various ministries to put together the final spending plans for 2027.

The Budget Statement will then be presented to Parliament for consideration and approval.

As the latest round of hearings draws to a close, work will continue on finalising the 2027 Budget ahead of its expected presentation in November.
