Dr Agyeman-Rawlings said the two countries also explored ways to create more opportunities for young people, especially women and girls, to participate in science and technology.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, October 7, 2026, the Minister said the engagement focused on research collaboration, knowledge exchange and capacity building.
“We discussed the importance of investing in young people and creating pathways for greater participation in science and technology, particularly for women and girls,” she said.
According to Dr Agyeman-Rawlings, stronger cooperation between Ghana and Germany could help build the skills and knowledge needed to advance scientific research and innovation in Ghana.
She said the two sides also discussed opportunities for researchers and institutions to share knowledge and collaborate on scientific projects.
The Minister said healthcare was another major area of interest, particularly the application of nuclear science and technology to cancer care.
She said Ghana could strengthen its capacity to detect and treat cancer by expanding access to radiotherapy and other related technologies.
“The application of nuclear science and technology in healthcare presents opportunities to strengthen Ghana’s capacity for cancer detection and treatment,” she said.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings said cooperation in this area could support Ghana’s efforts to improve specialised healthcare and make better use of science and technology to address major health challenges.
She also stressed the importance of ensuring that young people, particularly women and girls, are given opportunities to develop careers in science, technology and innovation.
The engagement forms part of the Minister’s recent engagements in Germany aimed at exploring stronger partnerships in scientific research, technology and innovation.
