The fifth-anniversary celebration of Bonokyempim Ladies, held in Amsterdam on September 26, 2026, was marked by a major humanitarian gesture as Dr Nick Abeam Danso Adjei announced a €30,000 donation towards the purchase of a dialysis machine for use by a hospital in either the Bono Region or Bono East Region of Ghana.

Bonokyempim Ladies is a social club based in the Netherlands, comprising women who hail from Ghana’s two Bono regions — the Bono Region and Bono East Region. The group is also supported in its activities and initiatives by a number of men from the two regions.

As part of activities marking the club’s fifth anniversary, a fundraising initiative was organised towards the purchase of a dialysis machine to help improve access to dialysis treatment back home in Ghana. It was in support of this initiative that Dr Nick Abeam Danso Adjei pledged the substantial amount of €30,000.

The colourful anniversary celebration, held at Schepenbergweg Nr 15 in Amsterdam, brought together members of the Ghanaian community, traditional and religious leaders, representatives of sister associations and other distinguished guests from the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe.

The occasion also witnessed a significant traditional ceremony with the enstoolment of Shirley Owusu-Yeboah as Queenmother of Bonokyempim Ladies Europe.

Following her enstoolment, she will henceforth be known by the stool name Nana Owusu Yeboah Assiamah.

Her installation as Queenmother added a rich cultural dimension to the fifth-anniversary celebration and marked a new chapter in the leadership and development of Bonokyempim Ladies Europe.

€30,000 for dialysis machine

Dr Nick Abeam Danso Adjei, CEO of Ghana Link Services Ltd and Managing Director of Nick Group of Companies, who served as Chairman of the occasion, was represented at the ceremony by Sam Abeam Danso, Chairman of the Oldtimers Club, a social club based in Amsterdam.

Delivering a message on behalf of Dr Danso Adjei, Sam Abeam Danso announced the €30,000 donation towards the purchase of the dialysis machine, in response to the fundraising initiative undertaken by Bonokyempim Ladies.

The machine is intended for use by a hospital in either of Ghana’s two Bono regions — the Bono Region or Bono East Region — to support the treatment of patients requiring dialysis and improve access to essential renal healthcare.

The announcement became one of the major highlights of the anniversary celebration, giving the occasion an important humanitarian purpose beyond the festivities.

The contribution provided a significant boost to the fundraising effort and demonstrated the commitment of members and supporters of the Bono community in the diaspora to improving healthcare delivery back home.

Sam Abeam Danso also conveyed Dr Danso Adjei’s congratulations to Bonokyempim Ladies on reaching their fifth anniversary and expressed his support for initiatives aimed at improving the lives and wellbeing of people in Ghana.

Ghana’s Ambassador represented

Among the dignitaries at the celebration was Bismark Anyanah, Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Ghana in The Hague, who represented Ghana’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Eddison Mensah Agbenyagah.

The gathering was also attended by traditional leaders, church leaders, opinion leaders within the Ghanaian community, as well as members and representatives of various sister associations.

The celebration extended beyond the Netherlands, with representatives of Bonokyempim International Denmark, Bonokyempim Ladies Frankfurt and Bonokyempim France joining Bonokyempim Ladies in Amsterdam to commemorate the milestone.

Their participation reflected the growing bonds among Bonokyempim groups across Europe and provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and friendship among the various organisations.

Shirley Owusu-Yeboah enstooled Queenmother

Another memorable highlight of the fifth-anniversary celebration was the enstoolment of Shirley Owusu-Yeboah as Queenmother of Bonokyempim Ladies Europe.

She will henceforth be known as Nana Owusu Yeboah Assiamah.

The enstoolment was an important moment for members and guests and reflected the organisation’s commitment to preserving and promoting Ghanaian cultural traditions within the diaspora.

As Queenmother, Nana Owusu Yeboah Assiamah is expected to play an important role in promoting unity, cultural identity, and the welfare and development of members of Bonokyempim Ladies Europe.

Her enstoolment during the fifth-anniversary celebration made the occasion particularly historic for the organisation, combining the celebration of its achievements with the beginning of a new chapter in its leadership.

Five years of unity and service

The anniversary offered Bonokyempim Ladies an opportunity to reflect on five years of friendship, unity, cultural identity and service to the community.

It also highlighted the contribution Ghanaian diaspora organisations can make towards development at home through collective action, fundraising and support for humanitarian initiatives.

The proposed acquisition of a dialysis machine represents one such initiative, with the €30,000 donation from Dr Nick Abeam Danso Adjei providing a major boost towards achieving the fundraising goal.

The presence of representatives from the Ghanaian Embassy, traditional and religious leaders, community leaders, sister associations and Bonokyempim groups from across Europe further underscored the spirit of unity that characterised the celebration.

For Bonokyempim Ladies, the fifth anniversary will therefore be remembered for two significant milestones — the €30,000 donation from Dr Nick Abeam Danso Adjei towards the purchase of a dialysis machine for Ghana’s Bono areas, and the enstoolment of Shirley Owusu-Yeboah as Nana Owusu Yeboah Assiamah, Queenmother of Bonokyempim Ladies Europe.
