The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme Secretariat has extended the deadline for prospective tenants to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the Legon Pharmaceutical Innovation Park (LePIP) to October 31, 2026.

The extension is intended to give pharmaceutical manufacturers and other eligible businesses more time to apply to establish operations within the planned industrial park in the Greater Accra Region.

In a press release dated October 13, 2026, the Secretariat said the extension would provide additional time for prospective tenants interested in participating in the project.

Africa cannot escape poverty with a generation of job seekers – Sir Sam Jonah

LePIP is a flagship industrial project under the government’s 24-Hour Economy Programme. It is planned as a 2,000-acre industrial ecosystem, beginning with a 40-hectare pilot pharmaceutical manufacturing platform in the Osudoku/Ningo-Prampram enclave.

The project aims to strengthen local pharmaceutical production, reduce dependence on imported medicines, attract investment, increase exports and create jobs.

The park is expected to provide facilities and services for pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, quality assurance, logistics and related activities.

Planned infrastructure includes reliable electricity and water supplies, shared utilities, quality control and testing laboratories, warehouses, cold-chain facilities, environmental management systems, regulatory support and digital infrastructure.

According to the Secretariat, the first phase is projected to create more than 3,000 direct jobs, with an estimated 30,000 additional jobs expected in subsequent phases. Several thousand indirect jobs are also anticipated across manufacturing, packaging, logistics, engineering, research and related services.

The project will also include a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Centre of Excellence in partnership with the University of Ghana to support skills development.

The centre is expected to supply more than 1,000 skilled workers to the pharmaceutical industry within its first five years.

The Secretariat has urged eligible businesses interested in establishing operations at LePIP to submit their EOIs before the revised deadline of October 31, 2026.

Applications can be submitted through the official EOI application form. Further enquiries can be directed to lepip@24hplus.gov.gh.

GHIB eyes Asian investment to finance African projects

The development of LePIP forms part of the government’s broader efforts to expand domestic production, create jobs and position Ghana as a pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution hub for West Africa and the wider African market.
