The Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC), Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, has called on Wall Street investors in New York to invest in Ghana’s domestic cocoa processing industry to boost local value addition, create jobs, and increase cocoa revenue.

He made the call at the second African Cocoa Finance and Investment Forum (ACFIF) on Monday, October 26, 2026, where he highlighted investment opportunities across Africa's cocoa value chain.

The forum brought together chocolate manufacturers, cocoa traders, supply chain participants from major cocoa-producing countries and investors from Europe and North America.

His appeal comes as Ghana implements cocoa sector reforms announced in February 2026, which seek to strengthen domestic processing and increase the value retained from cocoa production.

Speaking on a panel discussing bankable investment opportunities, Dogbey identified domestic processing, farm rehabilitation, technology, research and risk management as areas with significant potential for investors.

He said existing cocoa processing factories in Ghana could increase production capacity with adequate working capital, upgraded equipment and reliable markets for finished and semi-finished products.

Dogbey highlighted opportunities to develop innovative cocoa-based products, including cocoa butter soap and body pomade developed by the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), as well as cocoa pulp beverages that could provide farmers with additional income.

According to him, financing arrangements linked to processing and product offtake could help expand local processing, retain more value in the country and generate sustainable employment.

He further encouraged technology providers, banks and brokers to support the sector through improved traceability systems, efficient supply chains and affordable financing and hedging products for local traders and processors.

The CMC Managing Director stressed that successful investments required capable operators, identifiable customers, clear commercial arrangements and financing structures aligned with business cash flows.
