Construction of the new concourse linking Terminals 2 and 3 at the Accra International Airport has reached 20 percent completion, about six months after President John Dramani Mahama cut the sod for the project.
Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu announced the progress in post on X sighted by GhanaWeb business on Saturday, November 7, 2026, recalling the President's sod-cutting ceremony in April this year.
The project is part of government's efforts to address congestion at the airport and improve the movement of passengers between the two terminals as passenger traffic continues to increase.

At the sod-cutting ceremony on April 27, 2026, President Mahama said passenger numbers at the airport had increased from 1.8 million in 2022 to 2.5 million in 2025, putting pressure on existing facilities.
He noted that congestion was particularly common during peak hours between 6pm and 10pm, affecting check-in, immigration, security screening, boarding and baggage handling.
The concourse is said to feature five passenger boarding bridges, modern waiting and boarding areas, premium and VIP lounges, as well as retail and commercial facilities.
It is expected to allow passengers to move between the two terminals more easily without relying on separate terminal facilities.
The facility is also expected to improve aircraft turnaround time, strengthen transit connections and make passenger handling more efficient.
The project will work alongside the Terminal 2 repurposing programme, which is expected to allow the terminal to handle both domestic and international flights.
